Calendar of Events

Please note that due to Covid-19 in-person Monthly Meetings have been temporarily suspended. 

Monthly Meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 2.00 pm in the auditorium at No 8, High Street Pershore.

Meetings normally start with a few announcements and are swiftly followed by the highlight of the afternoon, the guest speaker who usually entertains and enlightens us for a little less than an hour. Once the meeting ends, members are invited to partake of optional free refreshments and move into the Number 8 cafe-bar area where there are tables and chairs. 

There is no charge for attending Monthly Meetings.

Christmas Quiz hosted by our very own Ian Smith from Pershore U3A Committee

Ian is an experienced quiz master who promises a festive treat that will entertain and amuse us.

Sentenced to Beyond the Seas by David Clarke

David is a well-known and highly regarded local speaker who last visited us in October 2019 when he spoke about the BBC banning records from the radio airwaves.

The true and fascinating tale of 8 Worcestershire female convicts sentenced to death or transportation in the 1780's to the 'Land Beyond the Seas'. That land was to become Australia and those women the foundation of a new nation. One of the would be the progenitor of the largest living family group in Australia today. Another would return to England a rich woman.

David expects to speak for 50-55 minutes.

Inside the Crown Court by Marguerite Collins

Marguerite worked at the Crown Court for sixteen years. She will cover Worcester Shire Hall and the role of the people who work within the Court. She will include some of the cases and trials she worked on and select a typical trial to show the circumstances of the crime, evidence police gathered and how the trial unfolded.  She will speak only about matters discussed in open court.

It is envisaged that her talk will last for around 50 minutes.

Lundy – Island without Equal by Adrian James

Adrian most recently spoke to us in June 2019 on the topic of Through the Garden Gate which was about British gardens built around unusual features.  His photography was second to none and his talk had wit, pace and interest.

The Lundy talk lasts for around 30 minutes
