Art Grout on location

It's not necessary to go far to find something to paint and members of the Art Group had their first ever outdoor sketching and painting session recently at the Avon Meadows wetlands. Members were spoiled for choice with plenty of different subjects clamouring for attention.

Although group members normally bring their own materials and work to the regular meetings, demonstrations or workshops have occasionally been arranged so participants can try our new techniques or materials.  The last workshop gave members a chance to experiment with acrylics as our photograph shows.

We would welcome new members - please contact Christine if you are interested.

Christmas Lunch 2019

Since the start of Lockdown the Group have been holding weekly ‘virtual meetings’ with members submitting two photos on a designated subject and one photo as a fun challenge. These were items taken from an unusual angle.

The first one was “a household item” by Jane Campbell which was a Spectacle Case

The second one “an item from the garden shed” by Helen Morgan which was the nozzle of a petrol can.

And the third one “an item you would take on holiday” by Pam Luckhurst  which was a bottle of sun tan lotion

After three weeks of “objects from an unusual angle” we changed track and started using different techniques.  The first one we tried was “Flat Lay” this is frequently used for adverts on social media.  The ‘picture of pearls’ was from Pam Luckhurst
,

Our next was a macro photo of “a personal heirloom” and Mary Harber used her Mother’s engagement ring to great advantage here.

but Nicky Bailey’s Flat Lay  “Crochet square” really topped the lot.

Our next one is “reflections from a glass bowl by Jane Campbell”

Other recent ones
Wildlife in the garden by Janet Arnold

and Shoot with Fruit by Stuart Sandys
