January 29th    2016                 ECKINGTON  

Meet:  Wharf picnic area, just after the traffic lights on Eckington Bridge Length 3.5 miles along the River Avon to Birlingham and Nafford Lock  Leader Cynthia Simmonds  

12th February                           ELMLEY CASTLE
Meet: near the Queen Elizabeth in Elmley Castle
Length: 5.25 miles. An easy, mostly flat walk taking in Bricklehampton and Little and Great Combertons with views of Bredon Hill.Leaders: Jo and David Smith

26th February 2016                  WICK

Meet:   Old Bridges car park, Pershore

Length 4 miles. A circular walk around Wick partly on permissive paths, across fields and lanes.

March 11th                               TIDDESLEY WOOD

Meet:  Tiddesley Wood Nature Reserve Car Park

  Length: 5/6 miles.  An exploration of the many paths through the wood and a bit further afield.  Expect mud.  Leader:  Jenny Brumhead     

March 25th                               GOOD FRIDAY no walk

April 8th                                   MIDDLE LITTLETON

Meet:  Park outside Middle Littleton village hall on School Lane

Length: 5 miles. From Middle Littleton to Cleeve Prior with part of the walk along Shakespeare’s Avon Way .    Leader:  Sue Allard

April 22nd                      Wyre Piddle to Pershore

  Distance:  4 miles easy walking,  no stiles. Leader:  Denis Wager


Meet:  Car park at Trench Wood off Trench Lane
 5.5 miles.  Level woodland with an abundance of bluebells and primroses to put a spring in your steps.  A church where a murder took place,  and a stretch of canal.  A few stiles, some a bit challenging.  Leader: Audrey Newstead  

May 20th         EVESHAM

Meet:  Car park just past the cemetery on Waterside, Evesham.   Length:  5 miles to Badsey and back through Aldington , the glorious, historic Vale of Evesham.   Leaders:  Ray Lewis and Tricia Baker  


  Meet: By footpath sign on the left in Gig Bridge Lane. Length: 4 miles over fields to Drakes Broughton where there is an exceptional farming project.   Leader:  Clare Oliver 

Jun 17th            BIDFORD ON AVON   Meet:  Car park south east of roundabout Stratford on Avon
Length: 7 EASY miles Our walk is a circular walk from Bideford on Avon 7 miles of easy walking .The mileage could be shortened !! Leaders:   Alastair and Heather


Meet:   Layby on B4070 at Bulls Cross. 

Length:  6 miles up hill and down dale, with some steep climbs.  A moderate to strenuous walk in one of England ’s most beautiful valleys immortalised in the works of local author, Laurie Lee, where he spent his childhood and is the setting for his autobiographical novel Cider With Rosie.Leader:  Rosemary Davis 

July 1st             ALFRICK   Meet:  St Mary Magdalene Church, Alfrick 

Length:  5 miles.  A walk on the Suckley Hills and along the Leigh Valley , an area quite close to home that we rarely visit.  Leader: Carolyn Harford

  July 15th A WALK TO STRATFORD (not from Pershore!)

Meet:  Milcote Picnic Area (Greenway) on road from Welford to Clifford Chambers   Length:  6.5 miles. A walk to Stratford along the old railway and the River Avon with a break by the theatre. If it has been very wet the river can be avoided. Leaders: Chris Wood and Tony Braddock

July 29th        BURFORD  

Meet:  Free car park near to the Church, follow signs on RHS just after driving through the traffic lights on the bridge over the Windrush.  Suggest that we meet at the far side of the car park  Length:  5 miles.  A lovely walk in the Cotswold countryside.  A few gentle slopes, but no steep hills.  Beautiful views. We will stop at the medieval church of St. Oswald and also see traces of a medieval village, abandoned because of the plague. A bit further than some of our walks, but well worth the drive.  Leader:  Sue Allard     

Aug 12th           ODDA’S CHAPEL 

Meet:  Car park at Odda’s Chapel, Deerhurst.  (Off A38, just south of Tewkesbury ).  There may be a small parking fee.  Length:  3.5 miles.  Odda’s Chapel and Deerhurst Church are both Saxon buildings well worth a visit.  We follow the River Severn to Apperley and come back over fields, which may be muddy after rain. September 23rd              PEOPLETON  

Meet:  In Peopleton.  Please park in the village street, with consideration for the local residents.

Length:   5 miles. A route previously walked in 2009 taking in historic Wolverton Hall on our way towards White Ladies Aston.  Fine views even though this is flat terrain with no serious hills.  Some stiles.Leader:    Rosemary Davis 

October 7th        WEST MALVERNS  

Meet:   Tank Quarry Carpark (free parking) 

Length:  4.5 miles.  An undulating walk north of the Malvern hills to Storridge, crossing the border between Worcestershire and Herefordshire.  Leader:  Claire Oliver

  October 21st                PIRTON  

Meet:   At  Pirton Court, where there is plenty of parking  

Length:  5.5 miles visiting Pirton Church, Pirton Pool, Croome Church and the Wadborough area. Not strenuous, with one gentle incline.  Leaders:  John and Pat Filmer 

November 4th            ELMLEY CASTLE
Meet:    Main Street in Elmley by the Queen Elizabeth pub
Length:  5 miles. This walk takes us through Bricklehampon and Little Comberton with views of Bredon Hill without the climb. Leaders: Jo and David Smith

  November 18th      STONEHALL AND PIRTON 

Length:  4.25 miles. Mostly easy walking in open country, some slopes- one short steep stretch and not many stiles.  Good views on a clear day. Leaders: Robert Rawles and Cynthia Simmonds

December 2nd                 WHITBOURNE  

Meet:  In village, shown as Meadow Green on map but signed from A44 as Whitbourne.  Just off A44 before Bromyard.  Park sensitively in the village, but preferably not by the church .

Length: 5.5 miles. A very attractive area of gentle slopes with some stiles

December 16th               CROOME

Meet:  National Trust carpark, Croome

Length:  4 miles, over the Capability Brown landscape to the folly called Dunstall castle.

December 30th               PERSHORE     

Meet:  Pershore Bridges carpark 

Length:  3.5miles for a short, gentle amble to get us back to normality after the excitements of Christmas.Leader:  Rosemary

15th January 2010. Walk from Inkberrow “snowed off”

29th January. Annual Walking Group Lunch. Lunch in Pershore without a walk this year, so that non walking spouses can join us.

12th February.  Start from Inkberrow near The Old Bull Inn. GR 014572. Roadside parking. 5 miles to Abbotts Morton and back through gently undulating countryside.                              Leaders Heather Greenhalgh and Claire Oliver

26th February. Start from The Pear Tree Hotel, Smite, WR3 8SY, GR 901589, 4 miles, from Smite and across Brownheath Common and back to the Pear Tree, partly on land owned by the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, Lower Smite Farm being their H.Q.  A few stiles and could be muddy in places.                                                           Leader Denis Wager

12th March. A longer, all day, bring packed lunch  9 miles through Bourton on the Hill and Morton in Marsh, with superb views of Sezincote and Batsford, some hills and stiles.                                                         Leader Rosemary Davis

26th March. Start from Hill, GR 987479 Explorer 190. About 4 miles mostly flat, with a few gentle inclines, 5 or 6 stiles.                                                                                                                           Leader Yvonne Hardwick.

9th April. From Beckford Village Hall car park, GR 974356 Approx 5.5 miles through Aston on Carrant and Kemerton, 7 or 8 stiles, an easy walk with some gentle ups and downs.                              Leaders Tricia Baker and Ray Lewis

23rd April. Start in Bredon Village, at the parking area by the river, GR 921373,  4.5 miles via Bredon’s Norton, Westmancote and Kemerton. A few stiles.                                                                                             Leader Sue Allard

7th May, North Worcester, from Perdiswell Sports and Leisure Centre GR 856571 6 mile mainly flat walk along the canal to the Cavalier pub and then across the city to Gheluvelt park followed by a riverside walk to Bevere Lock and back through Claines.                                                                                                                     Leader Gareth Harries

21st May. Start from Beckford Inn lay-by on A46, GR 981354, About 4 miles, Little Beckford, Alstone and Little Washbourne. No real hills, just undulating, about 10 stiles and could be wet/muddy.                                Leader Mike Taylor

4th June. Start from Talbot Hotel, GR734561, about 4.5 miles along the Teme valley to Horsham returning along the Worcestershire Way. 5 stiles, 1 short steepish section. Beautiful scenery and views.            Leader Les Beard

18th June. Bus from Broad Street, Pershore to Wadborough Cross Roads. Walk about 4 miles with 3 stiles through Deerfold Wood to Drakes Broughton and return to Pershore via Gig Bridge.                             Leader Joy Dixon-Smith

2nd July. Start from Tank Quarry car park, off B4232 North Malvern, GR 768470 (Explorer 190). 4½ miles north of the Malverns to Storridge and back via West Malvern with magnificent views over the Worcestershire Plain and the Herefordshire countryside. 4 stiles and several long steep climbs both up and down. 16th July, Worcester Waterways. Start from Worcester Bus station (GR 850553) A circular walk of 4 miles with no stiles and good level footpaths along the river to the Cathedral, across to the Commandery and up the canal to the Cavalier, across the city to Gheluvelt park return along the river by the racecourse.                                     Leader Gareth Harries

8th October. Start from Speed The Plough Inn, Tibberton, GR 907578. The walk takes us across meadows, over Shoots Hill to Sale Green, along Trench Wood and back along the canal. 4+ country miles with a few stiles. 22nd October. Start from Dairy Lane, Dumbleton, GR 017359, map - Explorer 045. A 4 mile walk round Dumbleton Hill with one short climb, one longish steady climb and some lovely views.                                         Leader Sue Allard

5th November. Start from the lay-by on the A443 on the left just past the turning to Grimley. GR 828605, map - Explorer 204. Easy 5 mile walk through Grimley and along the river to Hallow, returning via Grimley arboretum and fields.  17th December. Pershore Mystery Quiz Trail. Start from Pershore Bridges, about 2 miles and about 2 hours -- visiting one of our local hostelries afterwards.
