January 26th  2018  WITLEY 

Meet:   Witley Village Hall, which is on the right, on the A443.  Donation £1 per car

 Map:  Exp 204 GR 753 663 Length:  6 miles in rolling countryside, passing in front of Witley Court, plus a tea and cake option towards the finish.

February 9th     EVESHAM

Meet:   Raphael’s restaurant carpark, Boat Lane, Hampton Ferry, Evesham WR11 4BP

Length:  4.5 miles.  History is all around on this mainly riverside walk.  Excellent restaurant if you want to stay for lunch or a drink

February 23rd FLADBURY

 

Meet:   Pershore Rugby Club, Mill Lane, Wyre Piddle, WR10 2JF

Length:                6.5 miles, easy walking visiting three local villages, with possibility of calling in at a pub before returning to the start.

 

Distance from Pershore:  1.5 miles (you can walk across the Water Meadows!)

March 9th          WELLAND

Meet:   Marlbank Inn, Marlbank Road, Welland WR13 6NA. Please park at top end of carpark

Length:   5 miles. Mainly flat with one slight incline.  Pub lunch recommended

March 23rd       SPETCHLEY/SNEACHILL

Meet:   Park in lane just after Nightingale Inn at Sneachill, which is a right turn off A44 coming from Pershore

April 6th                           UPTON ON SEVERN

Meet:   Layby (was the old road) on B4104 out of Upton on Severn

Length:  5.5 miles, flat open countryside over to Longdon Heath, returning via Tunnel Hill, 9 stiles.

April 20th              GRAFTON FLYFORD

Meet:   Grafton Flyford Church

Length:   6.5 miles.  Walking through Grafton Wood, which belongs to Worcestershire Wildlife Trust , and the surrounding area. Fairly gentle.

June 15th              NORTH AND WEST MALVERN

 

Meet:                Tank Quarry Picnic Place, signed to the left off B4232, North Malvern.

Length:                4.5 miles This is an undulating walk from North Malvern to Storridge, crossing the border between Worcestershire and Herefordshire, within the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

June 29th           COTSWOLD SUMMER SPECIAL

 

Meet:                Green Dragon Inn, Cockleford, Cowley 

This is off the A435, the road from Seven Springs roundabout to Cirencester.  After about two miles along theA435, there is a sign to the right to Cockleford ¼ mile and a brown tourist sign for the Inn. 

To get to Seven Springs, take M5 to Jt 11a, follow A417 up Crickley Hill to the Air Balloon Inn and go straight over the roundabout on to the A436. After two miles there is a double roundabout where the A435 we want is to the right, at the first roundabout.

July 13th            COACH TRIP  BATH SKYLINE WALK

 

                         

The coach will drop us at the start of the 6 mile walk and pick us up again to return to Pershore at about 5 o’clock.  If the going gets too much, there is a cut-off to avoid some climbing.  Publicity says “Enter another world, onto the skyline hills above Bath and beyond, through six miles of meadows and ancient woodlands to secluded valleys”.  Only two stiles, and the views of Bath are outstanding.

July 27th            CONDICOTE

 

Meet:                Condicote village, near to the village hall which is on LHS as you enter the village.

Length:                6.0miles from Condicote to Hinchwick Manor through lovely Cotswold countryside.  A few inclines, but nothing too taxing.

Aug 10th                STOKE POUND

 

Meet:                   Queen’s Head Inn, beside the canal at Stoke Pound. A good place for lunch after the walk.

Length:                5.5 miles, following the Worcester Birmingham Canal before turning to walk through pastures, field paths and minor lanes. The terrain is undulating rather than hilly.

SEPTEMBER 7TH

A WALK AROUND WORCESTER ON THE 6 MILE GIRAFFE TRAIL, FOLLOWING THE DECORATED GIRAFFES AROUND THE CITY ON THE TRAIL DEVISED IN AID OF ST RICHARD’S HOSPICE.  MEET AT THE CAR PARK IN WAVERLEY ST, WORCESTER AT USUAL TIME 9.45.  BOOTS NOT NECESSARY, WALKING SHOES ADVISED.

TO FIND WAVERLEY STREET.  TAKE A44 FROM PERSHORE INTO WORCESTER CITY CENTRE ALONG LONDON ROAD, TURN LEFT AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT THE COMMANDERY, FIRST RIGHT AFTER PETROL STATION, AND CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD.  CAR PARK IS ON THE RIGHT BY THE CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND.

SEPTEMBER 21ST

AN ALL DAY WALK OF 8.5 MILES, STARTING FROM THE NIGHTINGALE INN AT SNEACHILL, PERMISSION HAS BEEN GIVEN TO USE THEIR CAR PARK. IT WOULD BE COURTEOUS FOR SOME TO HAVE A DRINK IN THE BAR AFTERWARDS.  PLEASE BRING A PACKED LUNCH AND A DRINK.  TERRAIN IS GENTLE, MOSTLY PASTURE WITH SOME STILES.

13th January 2012 - Start at Hawbridge from the road off the B4084 that leads to The Bird in Hand pub. A flat 3 mile walk to Wadborough and back, 8 stiles, will be muddy.  Map:- Explorer 190, GR 908491.                 Leaders Jenny and Denzil Devos

27th January 2012 - Park at and start from Stanton Village Club, which is on the road into the vil from the Broadway direction. A 6 mile Cotswold walk with a long steep climb at the start, no stiles. Good pub for lunch afterwards (Donnington beer).

10th February 2012 - Start from Elmley Castle picnic site, which is on the right hand side of the road, opposite the cricket ground, just through the narrow road. About 4 miles of easy walking through Netherton and Kersoe, with no hills, a few stiles and maybe some muddy patches.  Map:- Explorer 190, L/R 150, GR 984411.                                                        Leader Denis Wager

24th February 2012. - Start from Hollybush car park. A 5 mile walk from Hollybush around Ragged Stone Hill, over Chase Hill and across the Bromesberrow Estate, returning through the woodland around Ragged Stone Hill. 23rd March.  - Start from Pershore Bridges car park. A 7 mile walk through Pensham to Great Comberton to Nafford Lock, returning through Birlingham and Tiddesley Wood. Sure to be muddy, 7/8 stiles. Map Explorer 190, GR 953451.

6th April. (Good Friday). – Start from Evesham Sports Club, Blind Lane off Albert Road (WR11 4LE), parking near to the club house. A fairly flat 4 mile walk, no stiles, along the Avon to Abbey Park, then via riverside near to the weir, along track to Oxstalls farm and then to Greenhill and back along Sawmills Lane to the river and Sports Club. 20th April. - Start from Waitrose car park in Alcester. (Free parking)  An undemanding 5.5 mile walk through beautiful open countryside, with good views, 3 stiles.                                                                                          Leader Alastair Lawson

4th May. - Start from car park behind Overbury Cricket Club. Initially we will walk in the direction of Kemerton, then up the hill, across towards Conderton and back to Overbury. A pleasant and varied walk on the south side of the hill.

 13th July 2012. - Start from Barbourne Worcester, Sunnyside Road opposite Gheluvelt Park. Catch the 10.00(ish) bus to Droitwich, walk from Droitwich to Hanbury, may involve some road walking, along the Worcester and Birmingham Canal to Worcester. A 5 mile walk through undulating Cotswold countryside, including one area which is an SSI.
